If you are an investment professional, academic or student, you may join our Society by applying for membership with CFA Institute. Two sponsors are required (both should be regular members of CFA Institute). It is preferable for one's supervisor to be one of the sponsors. If you need help in finding a sponsor from our Society, contact us and we will be glad to help you!
There are two types of active membership in our Society: Regular and Affiliate. To qualify as a Regular member, you must have 48 months of acceptable work experience practicing or teaching the investment decision-making process. If you do not have the required amount of experience yet, you can join us as an Affiliate member.
It is important to note that you do not have to enroll in the CFA Program or pursue the CFA charter to become a member of CFA Society of San Diego or CFA Institute.
If you are not a CFA candidate or have not passed Level 1 of the CFA Exam, you will be sent a self-administered Ethics exam which you must successfully complete before your application will be approved.
